Meet the crew leaders who carry this legacy of craftsmanship onto every roof we install.
Jose Ramirez
Jose Ramirez was arguably the most prolific crew leader the Atlanta roofing market has ever seen, and he would be the first to say so! He arrived in Atlanta in 1993 after learning the roofing trade from his father and uncles, with whom he worked in Texas for some 15 years after he migrated to the states from rural Mexico at the age of nine. Jose and his wife, Magdalena, were blessed with four daughters but had no sons. Jose thus developed a “management style” of taking promising young roofers under his wing–guiding supporting, and encouraging them not just in roofing but in all aspects of successful, exemplary living.
Owing to his confident, sincere, and lighthearted manner, coupled with his deep commitment to thorough, hands-on training, Jose was a father figure to many of his proteges, and they, in turn, were uncommonly devoted to him. Over time, this resulted in Jose overseeing up to five crews at the same time. He was known and respected at every roofing supply house in town, and roofers who came to Atlanta looking for work were often advised to “go see Jose Ramirez.”
Much like an elite football coach who builds a legendary program, Jose’s reputation enabled him to recruit and retain the most promising young men in the trade. And, again like the very best in the coaching profession, Jose’s “coaching tree” grew, so that it became a badge of honor within the Atlanta roofing fraternity for a crew leader to say that he had been trained by Jose Ramirez.
In 2010, Jose and Accent Roofing were introduced by a mutual associate, the manager of Atlanta Roofing Supply (now Superior Distribution). In 2012, Jose became Accent’s primary installer, and he and his crews began working exclusively with Accent.
In 2011, Jose playfully boasted that he had installed “millions of roofs.” When pressed on the mathematical impossibility of such a wild claim, he would hide his amusement behind a stern expression and double down on his million-roof testimony. His nickname thus became “Millions.” The affectionate moniker stuck, and Jose cherished it until his untimely passing, in 2019, from complications due to diabetes.
With each passing year, Accent Roofing grows prouder of its long and rewarding association with Jose, Magdalena, and the fine people into whom they poured their very best. Today, two of our crews are led by direct proteges of Jose, and all our crews exhibit his influence, which is readily apparent in their craftsmanship, courtesy, and commitment.
